How do I get started?
Enter your email on the sign-in screen and we'll send you a 6-digit login code — no password needed. After signing in, you'll go through a quick onboarding to set up your starting balance, paycheck, and spending amount. Then add your bills and one-time entries to see your full forecast.
How far into the future can I forecast?
LedgerCast generates a 5-year projection based on your current paychecks, bills, and one-time entries. This helps you plan for long-term financial goals and spot potential issues well in advance.
Does the app connect to my bank?
No. LedgerCast is a planning tool where you manually enter your financial information. We never connect to your bank accounts or access your actual financial data. This keeps your banking credentials secure.
Can I create multiple ledgers?
Yes! Create separate ledgers for different purposes — a household budget, a side project, or a shared family plan. Switch between them from Settings > Switch Ledger. The app remembers your last-used ledger.
How do I share a ledger with someone?
Go to Settings > Invite People. You can send an email invitation or generate a shareable invite code. Choose a role for the invitee: Editor (can modify data) or Viewer (read-only access). Ledger owners have full control including managing members.
How do I join a shared ledger?
If someone sent you an email invitation, just sign in with that email address and you'll see the shared ledger. If you have an invite code, use the link icon on the ledger selection screen to enter it.
What does the warning threshold do?
The warning threshold is a balance amount you set in Settings. When your projected balance falls below this threshold, the app will highlight those dates so you can see potential cashflow problems before they happen.
How do I mark entries as paid?
Swipe left on any unpaid entry to mark it as paid. Swipe right on a paid entry to undo it. You can also swipe left on the balance row to archive all paid items at once, or swipe right on it to restore recently archived items.
Can I change an entry's amount?
Yes! Tap any entry in the ledger to edit its amount. Choose "This Date Only" to create a one-time override, or "All Future" to change the recurring amount going forward.
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings and tap "Export My Data." This generates a JSON file containing all your financial data, which is copied to your clipboard and displayed for review.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings and tap "Delete Account." You'll need to confirm twice (including typing "DELETE") to prevent accidental deletion. This permanently deletes your R. M. Burgess account and all associated data, including financial planning data, ledger memberships, and ledgers you own.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use passwordless authentication (one-time codes via email) so there are no passwords to be compromised. Each user's data is isolated — you can only access your own information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Do you sell my data?
No. We never sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is used solely to provide the app's features.
How do I remove ads?
Go to Settings and tap "Remove Ads" to make a one-time purchase of $1.99. This permanently removes all ads from the app. If you reinstall or switch devices, your purchase will be automatically restored.
Is LedgerCast available on the web?
Yes! LedgerCast works on iOS and in any modern web browser. Your data syncs across all platforms in real time.
The app isn't working. What should I do?
Try these steps:
